“Honeycome Home”, Canvas, acrylic medium transfers, fabric, paper, thread, 2010
This piece was the basis of my undergraduate thesis show. It is about 12ft long and 5.2ft wide. There are around 100 different honeycombs attached to the large piece of canvas. Half of the honeycombs contain text and imagery with embroidery thread to represent pieces of poetry I wrote, or memories from my past and present. The other half of the honeycombs, I made collages from national geographic magazines, printed them, and used acrylic medium to transfer them onto canvas. I then sewed into them continuing repetitive patterns of nature that are exposed in the collage.
